Constructing Contents Page

1. I opened a new photoshop page in size A4 using the international papers option. Next I duplicated the wonderland layer from my front cover and chnged the text to contents page. This keeps my design consistent. I then added a red title block with a drop shadow. I imported the photographic image of Paiton and added a caption underneath. I placed the number 47 above the image, this is the same number that features on my double page spread. I then added a features text box where I am going to write the titles of my articles.
2. I then put the image of my second model, Libby Quayle onto the page. I used the spot healing brush tool to clear up any blemishes on the skin. Then, I used the dodge tool (same tool as I used on Paiton's eyes) to make her eyes stand out.
3. I resized the image to the size I wante and added a caption with the name I chose for her 'Katy and the Rhinos', I then put the page number onto the image as I did with the main article. I also decided to get rid of the red background behind my caption as I felt that it was distracting as opposed to attracting the reader's attention. I also changed the caption to make it more interesting.
4. From my research i noticed that the caption box is normally indented onto the picture. Alos that the artists name was in bold typeface whereas the article description was in normal typeface. I reflected this on my contets page. I put the page number on the caption again to reinforce it to the audience.
5. I added blocks behind the subheadings of features, reviews etc. This will help distinguish the articles from one another.
6. I also decided to put on subscription page offering the magazine for '£1.69' as opposed to the '£2.99' as expressed on the cover. I also used the same website but a different section as well as terms and conditions to authenticate my contents page.

7. I decide upon a design that the rest of my articles will follow which includes a red page number along with the artists name in Bold followed by the article caption underneath. I made sure that these alligned to make my contents page more professional. I also added more sub headings of 'NEWS' and 'LIVE!'. I also noticed that a convention was to have the month that the magazine was published on the contents page.
8. I added more articles in the same format as descibed previously and added a bar at the top of tghe poage showing all the features of te magazine. I used the same bullet points as the front cover to separate these.
9. I added a black block to fill the blank space on my design. From my research I realised that the contents page of a music magazine is usually cluttered with limited white space so I decided I wanted to fill it as much as possible.
10. I wanted to make my subscription ‘advertisement’ stand out so I used the same colours of red and blue to highlight the most important information.
11. I further edited the image of Libby by altering the brightness and contrast. As I did on the caption of the main article I indented the caption of ‘Katy and the Rhinos’ into the photographic image.
